Feb. 14, 2023: Message to MSU Community Following the Campus Shootings

NOTE: This message refers to sensitive details that may be triggering regarding last night’s traumatic event. Resources and assistance are available through multiple campus programs.

Dear Spartan community,

Please see my video message below about last night's tragic shootings on our East Lansing campus.

Students are being offered support through MSU Counseling and Psychiatric Services, or CAPS, at Akers, Brody Square and Shaw private dining rooms. Community providers also are offering counseling at the Hannah Community Center in East Lansing. Virtual crisis counseling is available to students 24/7 by calling CAPS at (517) 355-8270 and pressing “1” at the prompt to speak with a crisis counselor. The MSU Employee Assistance Program is available to offer counseling services to our faculty and staff at Akers.

Sincerely,

Teresa K. Woodruff, Ph.D. (she/her/hers)
Interim President
MSU Foundation Professor
