Dear Spartan employees:
I am pleased to announce the addition of new personal observance days for university employees.
MSU understands that university-recognized holidays do not always align with the diverse religious and multicultural practices of our university community members. That is why, beginning this April, eligible faculty and academic and support staff members will receive two personal observance days available to use until Dec. 31, 2023. Going forward, these days will be available annually to use between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31. These additional days off will reinforce the university’s values of inclusion and belonging. More information will be shared by Human Resources, including answers to frequently asked questions. Thank you to all those in the university community who have advocated for these personal observance days.
The legacies we cherish, our daily continuing mission and our goals illuminating the path ahead rely on the talent and dedication you bring to your position every day. You admirably rise to each occasion to ensure our university operates at a high level. As the MSU 2030 strategic plan acknowledges, MSU employees represent the university’s greatest strength and biggest investment. Today’s announcement reflects the strategic plan’s focus on empowering excellence, advancing equity and expanding MSU’s impact by supporting your needs and aspirations in a culture that encourages each of us to do our best.
I am grateful for your many efforts and am privileged to work alongside you to make MSU a great place to work and learn.
My best,
Teresa K. Woodruff, Ph.D. (she/her/hers)
Interim President
