The safety and wellbeing of every Spartan community member is the very foundation of what allows our institution to thrive. Earlier this week, the Rock on campus, which has long served as a platform for expression among our community, became a source of contention for some.
We recognize that the messages were difficult for many in the Indigenous community, and I have communicated with many Indigenous leaders my support for them and their importance in our Spartan community. We all have a role to play in building a more inclusive community, and I will continue to advocate for, and expect, a community that supports each other and shows respect for one another.
