Dear Spartans,
The energy and passion of this community are nothing short of inspiring. As I reflect on my first year at Michigan State University, I am incredibly proud of all that we have accomplished together — and even more excited about what’s ahead.
Just a few weeks ago, we marked MSU’s 170th anniversary, a milestone honoring our rich history, the generations of Spartans who have shaped our legacy and the impact of this extraordinary institution. And while we honor our past, our focus is on the future — on ensuring that MSU continues to lead as a world-class public research university while expanding access and opportunity to ensure all rise together.
That’s why today, I am honored to announce the launch of Uncommon Will, Far Better World — a campaign to drive transformation at MSU and beyond. With a $4 billion goal, this campaign will empower MSU to push boundaries, take brave action and lead the way in tackling the most pressing challenges of our time. Thanks to the generosity of more than 120,000 alumni and donors, we have already built incredible momentum with $1 billion raised. Their support is making a lasting impact, and I know the Spartan community will continue to rise to the occasion.
More than reaching a financial goal, this is a compelling invitation to cultivate lasting change by focusing on three key ambitions:
-
Talent Activated – Expanding access and opportunity for Spartans and enhancing their potential through scholarships and student programmatic support
-
Synergies Imagined – Advancing groundbreaking research and community partnerships to tackle the world’s most pressing challenges through endowed faculty and research opportunities
-
Futures Built – Transforming university spaces and technology that will empower Spartans to lead in their fields through capital projects and new programs
This is our moment to be visionary, to take purposeful action and to shape the future of Michigan State University, and indeed the world. Every Spartan — students, faculty, alumni, parents and friends — has a role to play in this movement. Your support will more than strengthen MSU, it will extend our impact far beyond campus, transforming lives and communities for generations to come.
I invite you to join us on this journey. Together, we will build a far better world. To learn more about this campaign and how you can get involved, visit our campaign website. I also want to extend my appreciation to the University Advancement team for their dedication to this important work. If you have questions about the campaign, please connect with them.
Thank you for your passion, generosity and commitment to MSU.
Go Green!
