Oct. 8, 2019: Excellence in Diversity Awards announcement

Dear MSU Community,

The foundation for a safe, respectful and welcoming campus must include diversity, equity and inclusion. Every year, MSU’s Excellence in Diversity Recognition and Awards Program recognizes individuals, teams, units and organizations across campus for exemplary commitment to these principles and for their contributions to MSU.

We can take particular pride in MSU’s sponsorship of such a program as it marks its 30th anniversary in 2020. MSU became a higher education leader in promoting the value of diversity through the program and by encouraging full participation among Spartans on campus and beyond.

Each year, award nominations illustrate the variety of creative and significant work supporting this core MSU value undertaken by our faculty members, staff and students.

To participate, members of the MSU community are encouraged to nominate individuals, teams, units and organizations whose efforts reach the level of excellence essential to making MSU a welcoming and inclusive community.

The 2020 award categories are:

  • INDIVIDUALS — Excellence Within Community
  • TEAMS — Excellence Within Community
  • UNITS/ORGANIZATIONS — Excellent Progress Toward Achieving Diversity and Pluralism

Details and nomination packets are available on the Office for lnclusion website.

Please direct any questions to the EIDA Program Office, 114 Olds Hall, or call (517) 353-4563. Please note the deadline for submissions is 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15, 2019.

The 30th annual Excellence in Diversity Recognition and Awards Program will be held Feb. 11, 2020, in the Kellogg Center’s Big Ten Room A, followed by a reception. This anniversary marks a special milestone for the awards program, and we invite all Spartans, family and friends to join the celebration.
