May 20, 2020: Provost transition update

Colleagues,

As you may be aware, Teresa Sullivan’s tenure as Interim Provost will end on June 30 and Teresa Woodruff’s tenure begins on August 1. As such, I will be recommending Thomas Jeitschko, Associate Provost for Graduate Education and Dean of the Graduate School, to serve as Acting Provost for the month of July, pending approval by the Board of Trustees at their June meeting.

Thomas will work closely with both Teresa Sullivan and Teresa Woodruff to ensure a smooth transition, and he will play a vital role in providing continuity in the midst of planning for the fall semester. His role as both a Dean and Associate Provost provides crucial experience at both the college level and within the Provost’s Office to ensure stability during this transition.

Thomas previously served as an Associate Dean in the College of Social Science where he is a Professor of Economics and was the Director of the American Economic Association Summer Program, a two-month intensive pre-doctoral residential program that prepares undergraduate students from under-represented backgrounds for graduate work in economics and related fields.
