Oct. 1, 2021: Notification of Title IX Coordinator contact information

Dear Spartans,

I want to notify our community about the updated contact information for our Title IX Coordinator.

As of today, Nicole Schmidtke will temporarily be serving as MSU’s Title IX Coordinator. I thank Nicole for stepping into this role. This does not change how you contact the Office of Institutional Equity. You can reach the Title IX Coordinator with any inquiries about Title IX at MSU or make a report at:

408 W. Circle Drive
Olds Hall, Suite 105
East Lansing, MI 48824

Title IX is the federal law that prohibits sex discrimination in MSU’s education programs and activities, including admissions and employment: “No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving federal financial assistance.” MSU does not discriminate on the basis of sex in its educational programs and activities, and the Title IX Coordinator is responsible for efforts to comply with, and carry out, MSU’s responsibilities under Title IX. The contact information for the current Title IX Coordinator will always be listed on the Office for Civil Rights webpage

MSU is committed to the safety of each community member and has a policy in place that not only adheres to federal guidelines around Title IX but goes beyond the extent of what is required by law. It is called the Relationship Violence and Sexual Misconduct and Title IX Policy.

In addition, I strongly encourage you to review MSU’s Notice of Non-Discrimination, Anti-Harassment and Non-Retaliation, and report any incidents that may have happened to you or that you may have learned of or witnessed. We take these reports seriously and have resources available to anyone who has experienced harm.

For additional information on how to make a report to the Title IX Coordinator through the Office of Institutional Equity, please visit: civilrights.msu.edu/file-a-report

Together, our work toward meaningful cultural change continues.

Sincerely,

Samuel L. Stanley Jr., M.D. (he/him)
President
